Socks you can see

Alright, let’s talk about something that still messes with our millennial brains: wearing socks with trainers and jeans. Not the little invisible ones we’re used to—actual, visible socks. The kind Gen Z are rocking with ease while we’re still instinctively flashing our bare ankles like it’s 2012 and wearing out hair in a side part ;)

But I think Gen Z might just be onto something. (Like how they don’t wear office attire on nights out—why didn’t we think of that?!)

Why embrace the socks-and-trainers look?
💡 It looks great – A pop of colour can totally elevate your outfit.
💡 It’s practical – Warm ankles? Yes, please.
💡 It instantly makes your outfit look more on-trend – Like you actually meant to do it, rather than just forgetting your ankle socks.
💡 It’s effortless once you know how – And I promise, it’s easier than it looks.

How to Make It Work:

I don’t think you actually have to overthink this too much, the key is to make the colour and sock you pick look intentional. The colour of the sock has to connect in some way to something in your outfit. It doesn’t have to be an exact match—tonal harmony works just as well, but just have a quick think before you just grab a pair and that will help the ‘look’ make sense.

A few ways you can do that:

  1. Match the tone of the outfit - You can’t really go wrong with stocking up on neutral socks that suit your colour season—they’ll blend seamlessly into your outfits while still looking intentional.

  2. Match your sock colour to something on your trainers or shoes (like a logo or accent).

  3. Match them to the tone of your trousers (think blue for jeans, brown for tan trousers).

  4. Have them as a pop of bright colour contrasting colour to the rest of your outfit, so for example a red sock with an otherwise plan outfit.

  5. Wearing white trainers - You can never go wrong with a classic pair of white socks.

I have totally been won over by this trend, and I have bought a navy pair that goes with my jeans and I’m on the look out for a green pair to match my new silver trainers (that have a green stripe!) as I think this is the easiest way od

And finally, length matters—you want them long enough that you’re not flashing a random strip of skin every time you sit down, so just bear that in mind when you buy some.
