Golden Globes

When award season rolls around, I can’t help but get excited. Celebs step out dressed to the nines, and it’s always such a treat to see the glamour and creativity on the red carpet.

I always talk about it, but one thing that fascinates me is how many celebrities still default to black gowns — when you have the opportunity (and the money) to wear anything, why not take a colourful risk? (But that’s a conversation for another day!)

For now, let’s talk about how much impact the ‘right’ colours can make. This isn’t about criticism—every one of these women looks gorgeous, of course—but I love using red carpet moments to highlight the difference that dressing for your colour season can have. When someone steps out in colours that align with their natural season, they glow. When they don’t? They can still look great, but something often feels just a touch less vibrant or cohesive.

Below, I’ve grouped some of the looks from the Golden Globes by colour season. On the left, the celebs are wearing colours from their season, and on the right, they’re not. It’s a subtle shift, but it’s such an interesting one, and I think it really highlights the difference it makes when you wear your season.

Left (✓): Bright, fresh colours like coral pink, apple green, and gold highlight the lively, warm energy of Spring palettes. Effortlessly radiant!

Right (X): Deep, dark, or muted tones like navy, burgundy, and black feel heavy and take away from the playful vibrancy of Spring.

Left (✓): Soft, cool tones like rose pink, icy blue, and silvery pastels enhance their natural glow. Perfect examples of Summer colours at their best!

Right (X): Warmer or deeper shades like gold, red, and black overpower the soft, muted undertones of Summer. Beautiful dresses but less harmonious with their natural colouring.

Left (✓): Rich, earthy tones like burnt orange, deep teal, and berry red bring out the warmth and depth of Autumn complexions. These looks radiate Autumn perfection!

Right (X): Cool, icy colours like black, cream, or metallic silver feel out of sync with the warm, rich undertones of Autumn palettes.

Left (✓): High-contrast, bold shades like emerald green, icy blue, and deep black play up the striking clarity of Winter tones. These looks scream sophistication and drama!

Right (X): Warm gold or muted colours feel less sharp and polished on Winters, losing that crisp, vibrant edge they naturally have. (There were hardly any celebs dressing against their winter palette and Demi was the only person I could find.)
